Devil in the Details

This poem I have written in response to  MindLoveMisery’sMenagerie, writing prompt, tarot card “the devil.”    Following is the link, so anyone can play along if they wish.   https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2016/07/03/writing-prompt-june-19-2016-its-in-the-details/

The Devil can be a positive chap
when he appears upon a Tarot card.
To say “the Devil is in the details”
depends on the wit and whim of the Bard
whose hand  wields the pen and scribbles the tales!

Mischievous or ominous circumstance
is what determines the final outcome;
incidents occurring in the process
beg the question–is it bad?—or wholesome?
Therein lies the soul of Beelzebub.

The cards do not lie…interpretation’s
in the hands of the talented Reader
whose skill is as an open conduit
through which flows the ancient secret knowledge
open to those who put their minds to it.

Belief and application of the cards
and the decision to heed or ignore
is up to the receiver to deal with
and behooves attention to the details
of The Devil’s influence—good or bad.

  1. thank you for sharing your response to the prompt 🙂

your poem is a light and yet reflective piece – after all, it is up to us how we choose to see, understand and then decide – the devil may dance and prance allowing us to slip into a trance, but all spells must be broken, it is written in the cards 😉

    sorry, couldn’t help myself 😉
