Here’s a shot of the Japanese Beetle that, along with several hundred of his friends, ate my Knock-Out Roses last month. This is a Rose of Sharon flower in the picture, apparently not as tasty as the roses.
I know! I had some shots of the “hoard” piled up on my roses as they devoured them…but they were SO GROSS that even I couldn’t stand them. 🙂 Disgusting. They do have that iridescent shiny rainbow-y coloring that bugs have. I like to photograph spiders too… I have some that I really really like (pictures that is) but they freak out some of my followers. 🙂
they seem to arrive in the area at the end of June, then by the end of July they have completely disappeared. There is some kind of stuff one puts in the ground three years in a row that supposedly prevents the beetles…I don’t know if that worked or if they just have been taking a sabbatical in recent years.

I dislike killing bugs, but I do make exceptions for these guys…they deserve squishing. 🙂 perverse, I know

The thing is that I work hard at my meager photographic skills to capture spider webs…not an easy task.

It’s a fine photo of a problematic bug. I hope maybe these bugs are moving on?

I’ve thought of sampling various commenters from around the world and asked them to log their cats’ sleeping times. (Great minds…as they say… 🙂
