The Tryin’ of Speaker Ryan…revisited (re-posted)

The Tryin’ of Speaker Ryan

I have to hand it to Paul Ryan
the man just doesn’t quit trying!
Caught in a den of experts at lying,
and vying for votes by begging or buying.
Speaking loudly above all the jeering and swearing,
off this way or that…slipping and veering.
Poor Speaker Ryan, his smile running thin
against all the prying and querying…
wearying, not crying, he’s plying his wiles
and biding his time…working at herding his cats…
while trying to stay INSIDE the frying pan!

    1. actually I do. I have made the astute prediction that he would be president someday, but he probably has pretty much f’ed up any chances he had of that.

      1. actually you are right…it will be a cold winter for the GOP if it comes to pass that the Dems sweep out the nasty R’s and take over. Hint…I dislike all politicians equally. 😉

      2. like now, although partisan politics is muddying the waters even more than usual, but our general over-arching policies of hegemony and “shining-city-on-the-hill-superiority” still prominent. 45 just does not understand that goal.

      3. I suspect he isn’t as rich as he says he is. The women he married and divorced him were smart cookies though, they finished up with fortunes of their own. The mothers also raised the kids with lavish funds from dear old Dad…so they turned out half-way decent at least. He didn’t have much to do with them as children, of course.

      4. I hope you’re right about the kids because at least some of them could be in deep doo doo because of their association with him now. 😦

      5. It looks that way. Don Jr.s wife is divorcing him…wonder why? They have five kids, some adopted I think. 45’s younger daughter is in college, law school I think, looks just like Dad except she is a pretty woman, not as striking as Ivanka, who is too thin in my opinion.

    2. a lawyer once advised me: “do what you want but cover your ass…” referring to my moonlighting with our law director to write city ordinances when I was council clerk.

      1. It is remarkable to me that as for all the terrible things 45 has done or tried to do…he is most infamous for his sex escapades. He is IMHO a traitor to our country, and bent on mayhem and destruction…that is what he should be hung for.

      2. Gangsters…a whole other story! There is a movie about Cleveland’s infamous gangsters (Danny Green, Shondor Burns…etc) of the 50’s and so. This was a big Mafiosi area for various reasons…

      3. By the way, another grievous situation is dawning for me…my best friend told me yesterday she is to see a oncologist/surgeon to decide what to do with her aortic valve which is in “very serious condition.” She is I think 77. (I am 83) So if I go AWOL it might be because of that.

      4. Oh no. 😦 That can be replaced though can’t it? I hope it’s not as bad as it sounds and yes, of course the real world has to come first. -hugs-

      5. oh…re the lawyer Cohen…I believe his problems will be specifically concerning 45, his apparent only client…Cohen known as a “pit bull fixer” for 45. Namely cover-ups and pay-offs from some of the numerous nasty sex situations over the years. The FBI smashed (my word, but descriptive of their method of operation) into Cohen’s office and home and seized countless tapes/records/etc.

      6. yeah, there’s more interest since it involves dirty sexy stuff and pretty half-dressed women…rather than boring old treason or bank fraud and the like

      7. Read an article today that the Cohen development will end up exposing his shady business dealings and reveal him as a crook rather than a hero of the people.

      8. I am worrying about my stinking little tax return…I don’t have to pay tax because I am dirt poor, but I still have to file. no I’m not going there right now.

      9. That lawyer is a real piece of work…apparently 45 is his only…only…client. The judge in charge of the NY fiasco is a woman…with a reputation of being a stickler for the law. That’s good I guess.

      10. Was just reading about the diff. between Federal and State jurisdictions. If NY brings a case against Cohen, 45 can’t just wave a pardon over him. Interesting, very interesting. 🙂

      11. The 50 states each has its own codified ordinances and laws, but those are often under the jurisdiction of the Feds. In my present case, I have to deal with jurisdictions of the city; the county; the state…also my loan is guaranteed by the federal govt FHA. I have to write a letter to the bank meeting a whole list of requirements…to sell my own piece of property to my neighbor (the church.) It is all wildly complicated.

      12. Ouch. I’m sure it’s just as bad here but when we sold Dad’s house [he moved in with us and it was standing empty], I hired a good estate agency to give it a lick and a polish and do all the hardwork. Of course I had the money back then. All I can say is…good luck. 😦

      13. I like money. I remember when my little rocker was about five and first discovered money…she told my husband that the school was selling candy, and “they want ME to sell it and give them the money—why would I do that?” A kid after my own heart.

      14. -giggles- Oh that’s great! My Offspring has a healthy respect for money too. I didn’t believe in pocket money as a right so money was tied to chores. Entitlement is not a good look, ever.

      15. My late husband believed in kids doing chores. He had a farm and when my 5 kids (age 6 to 14) they learned to plant cabbage…me too…about 12 thousand cabbages & cauliflower. Also every crop known to man that would grow in Ohio.
