      1. It’s been a long time since I had major internet problems. I’m getting a signal now, but had to restart awhile ago. Scott is sick so I’m probably going to have to take him to the doctor; I hate that, it always takes half a day away from any productive pursuits. grumble…

      2. yesterday took Son to the doctor…treated him for a “cough.” His regular doctor is off this week… ;-] They have all had flu-like symptoms, but I refuse to waste time being sick…stupid ear infection is still around, I keep bothering it…

      3. well I thank the lucky stars that my health is good…fingers crossed…although that ear infection that won’t go away led to the antibiotic that led to the side-affect of weakness in my legs etc. and forcing me to walk with a limp. I am of course bitcsing to high heaven, gut I guess that’s what I get for bragging about my “good bones.”

      4. I’m going to have to go back to the doc and insist on the shot-in-the-rump antibiotic that has always worked for my head infections where regular antibiotics just make me sicker. Also, I am limping around like an old fool, and furious about it! My poor spine or tendons or whatever are weak, and I can actually feel the bones slipping. I am going to agree to see a bone-doc or at least try physical therapy, although I told my doc to forget it…I wasn’t going to do it! Yesterday my granddaughter’s new guy actually offered his arm as I was carefully treading some icy patches…and to my dismay I have to say that I did grab onto his sleeve. I have no desire to fall on my ass and break something. I can’t even step off a curb without consciously worrying about falling. god! pardon my itchbaying, but I do resent this whole thing. Who the hell thinks a drug meant to clear up infection actually can cause tendon/bone problems?

      5. Our #41 George H Bush funeral is going on now, still in Washington, final events in Houston, Texas tomorrow. Now that he died he is remembered as the best guy in the world…true he was a good decent human being. The other presidents were all pals (sort of) and they are getting plenty of air time now … big adversaries of #45, who of course is the odd man out … trump hates Obama especially, and the Clintons…and they are all much in the news. We always adore our leaders after they die… 🙂 Hopefully the trump-fiasco will start to blow up, even the Russians are upset with him now. (couldn’t happen to a nicer guy_

      6. Yeah, Bush senior seemed to be a good man. Dubya however. -sigh- The pendulum really has been swinging back and forth. I just hope 45 is the bottom of the barrel. 46 just has to be an improvement, unless it’s Pence.

      7. LOL the Bushes are oil-millionaires, and as far as I’m concerned their legacy is high on their wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I am flat against wars regardless of details, but the concept of “just wars” is bulls…t wars are about beating others up and stealing their stuff. OIL = bow to the oil-god.

      8. I didn’t realise that. I do agree with you re wars though. I would like to think I’d fight, even me, to protect this land from an /invader/, but going out to fight on someone else’s turf? Nah, no matter how to pretty it up, it’s still an invasion.

      9. exactly, an invasion, bullying, “with us or against us” no matter who is in office….the same general hegemonic dominant position maintains our major foreign policy; only nitty details overarch administrations and maintain the status quo.

      10. The funeral IS impressive, I love the pomp and circumstance of all the carryings-on. 45 sitting in the front row…then Obamas, Clintons, Carters, in the front pew. When Mrs. Bush died last spring she expressly did not invite 45 to be in any of the hoop-la. I do wonder what is running through 45’s mind?

      11. imagine how uncomfortable to be in a room (that is a humungous cathedral) where everyone hates you. There with his arch enemies, Obama and Hillary Clinton…and 45 ignored Jimmy Carter who is our oldest living president. 45 just stood/sat there looking like a sulking hulk (love it!) There was apparently a direct order that there would be NO trump-bashing during the funeral … which lasted for days! Those people must be so tired…funerals are always such draggy events anyway. I’m not going to allow any BS at my passing…except for my kids and a small handful of other people no one needs to visit me. The very thought of people who really didn’t like me much standing around reminiscing about good old Pat… bah humbug!
When my husband died they had the fire ladder truck with the US flag…a honor guard…he refused to wear his uniform, except to have his cap sitting near him in his coffin. But enough of that!…

      12. lol – well, at least he was allowed to come this time. I remember the John McCain service, sans 45. As for you, do you get a telegram from the Queen when you turn 100? Or from the President. -grin-

      13. When Barbara Bush (wife and mother of presidents) died in February she specifically excluded 45 to her funeral services…although Melania Trump was invited, and sat in the front row next to the Obamas. Apparently there was a direct family order out that no one was to bad-mouth 45 in any way…probably hoping to prevent a free-for-all brawl. These people may be millionaires, but they still hate each other. :-]

      14. Actually the POTUS used to send letters to the people when they turned 100, which was quite rare, but now many centenarians (is that even aa word?) are mentioned in the obituaries every day. My husband’s aunt lived to be 106. Her niece, my SIL, is 98 going on 99 in March.

      15. I don’t know as they ever stopped. Actually the letters were sent in response to specific requests from state officials like Reps or Senators. One of my duties as a volunteer in Cong. Pease’s office back in the early 70s was handling “greens” which were the office carbon copies of various correspondence.

      18. yeah well it took me several hours to set up my insurance needs for the coming year…the pension board switched from withholding medical ins. costs from the pension check…now they are setting up accounts from which WE are supposed to pay the bill ourselves. This just caused havoc, as one can imagine…and yesterday’s deadline was a big shock to procrastinators. We don’t take kindly to change in this country…just think about our going to the Metric System…my god there was nearly civil war over that…but that’s another story for another day.

      19. one of the perks of the pension board is to do the gut work for us…they are not going to do it any more. I did manage to make the deadline…which they extended by a week! lol It was a lot easier than it was cracked up to be,

      20. my god the CIA director is going to brief congress about the Khashoggi murder … she has heard the tapes of the actual event…which trump declined to listen to…says they are too brutal. He says he doesn’t have to hear them, he denies that the crown prince had anything bad to do with it. disgusting…. also he wouldn’t allow the CIA director to de-brief the committee to back up her/their conclusion that the CP did it by proxy of course. Sounds like a Fairy Tale, doesn’t it?

      21. Nightmare more like. 😦 I have to tell you, I will never vote for a US style republic. No single person should have that much power, and be so untouchable. :/

      22. what can I say? :_) it is a complicated system, and the point is to “be best” as Melania Trump says. We who have been raised from the cradle into this system of course think it is “the best.” Even intelligent 8-year-olds start to see the fallacies in the rhetoric… rich is good poor is not but who cares. Until 45 we have had leaders who more or less understood the system but at least tried to rule with common sense and benevolence. Take George Herbert Bush, whose state funeral is going on as we speak at the National Cathedral…not near the saint he is hyped today, but at least half way respectable and not treasonous. 45 is at the funeral celebrations and there is a Bush-family mandate to “leave trump alone!” Too bad, it’s a potential free for all bar fight!
