      1. Aaah. I’m not familiar with that breed but he looks adorable. I guess he’s like us, a bit worn but still good to go for a few more years. 🙂

      2. I remember the bite, it bled like crazy, probably because it was on the back of my hand with little but skin to bite into. It didn’t require stitches; the wound is only about a half-inch and is stark whitish and stands out more when I have a few months tan on my hand.

      3. The critters were dogs that were fighting, not cats. My dog was a little Boston Bull Terrior named Nibby…I don’t think I would have tried to interfere in a cat fight even then.:-)

      4. I figured. I haven’t had a dog since Bob died twenty years ago, he always had at least one dog. He also started our cat involvement…which to this day people who knew him well attribute our cat-fancy to ME…which is not my fault. As soon as one has a sweet little kitten they will never again be cat-free. btw, Ally insists that I get up in the morning, and will stand by my head and chatter until I get up. Yesterday Dau1 was here and Ally was yelling profusely … I finally figured she was worried that we would be distracted and forget to feed the cats.

      5. Ah, I see. I’ve always been a duo – dog & cat – but I know my ex ‘became’ a cat…accepter? lol He had no choice in the matter. Funny story. My cat Mitty did not like any of my men friends, but the first time I invited the ex over for dinner, Mitty jumped into his lap and stayed there. I figured I’d just been given the feline seal of approval. He wasn’t all wrong either. 😉
I totally agree re the power of kittens, especially if they decide they like /you/.

      6. When Allie first “appeared” next door SIL Mike carried the kitten over to me…I brought her in the house looking for a nod from no-more-cats-Scott. Allie marched right over to Scott and climbed up his pantleg…and the rest was history.

      7. Allie isn’t allowed outside now, but Dottie is still in and out. I can just read Allie’s cat mind figuring out ways to escape. Now I just pick him/her up physically and hold on while I have the door open even a crack. Allie absolutely loves going outside! I’d be more inclined to let her out, but when she gets out she doesn’t come back for a whole day! Then she comes back when she gets good and ready, but I have no idea if something terrible happened to her while she is “missing.” I told her that if she would check in now and then, and not hang-out with all those riff-raff outside cats…and possums and raccoons…I’ve seen her fight though, and she is quite accomplished at it.

      8. FYI…my little cat Allie made a break for the door last night and escaped. She/he just came up from nowhere when I opened the gate just enough to let Dottie out. It was cold last night, but above freezing. Allie is well acquainted with the neighborhood cat population, and I have seen him/her in battle stance with much bigger cats. She/he (still a mystery gender) loves the outside. She is nearing two years old, and has been plotting her escape for a long time. Counting Allie I still have five cats, including Pearl and Bob, who are at least 16. Dottie is Sister’s kid…a lovely calico. And of course Bob, who has aspersions for becoming a bad-ass like his Dad (Rambo.) The last time Bob visited the Vet he had an ear infection, and he was NOT happy with the Vet and her staff! I did think that the Haz-Mat padded gear was overkill…but as I told the Vet, she would fight too if someone was trying to force her into a carrier…she agreed. 🙂

      9. -giggles- Allie is a character! I assume he/she has returned by now?
Sadly I only have Harry and Golli left, and they’re both getting on. They used to be friendly. Then Golli got jealous and they became unfriendly. Now they’re friendly again and were sitting together, waiting for me to wake up and get with breakfast. 😉
They may be small and have four legs instead of two, but they’re people through and through. 🙂

      10. Allie was missing for almost 24 hours, and I was fairly frantic. Then finally she showed up looking all sheepish and embarrassed. She thought she was going to get yelled at I guess. She is a “talking cat” and she chats and howls when she wants me to get up in the morning, and when we go to bed at night she hollers until Dottie and Pearl, and sometimes Toby, come to sleep on my feet. Bob isn’t allowed on the bed.

      11. Oh I’m so glad Allie’s safe and sound, but…I’m amazed there’s any room on that bed for you. Your guys have it good. 🙂

      12. Actually none of the cats lay close to me, and sometimes I don’t even know they are there. Years ago my huge Maine Coon Moby would lay right beside me like a little space heater. Tinkerbell also was a cuddler. Now as for Ally, she/he will come up when I’m sitting at my computer and nap on my stomach like a baby. She keeps her distance at night. Ally is a funny cat. 🙂

      13. Last night I was sitting on the couch with my tablet, and Bob was sleeping next to me against the arm…his feet up and just posing for the cutest EVER cat photo. I put the camera app on the tablet and very quietly moved the screen to face him. He opened his eyes, said something like “oh hell no!” and then ran off. He came back a bit later and perched on the arm and did not so much as look at me for hours. He was so offended that I could feel it. He’s a card.

      14. The last time Bob went to the vet for a shot he fought so ferociously that the vet was actually wearing protective gear. I kid you not…I told the Vet she would fight too if someone was trying to force her into a box. She agreed. Bob’s Dad, I called him Rambo because he was like a wild critter, big black and white with a lightning stripe down his spine. I think he’s Bob’s hero… anyway he always rejects the camera when he’s just looking adorable…but he will pose for a more dignified portrait. 🙂

      15. lol lol lol! One day we’re going to wake up to the fact that cats have been ruling the world all along, we just didn’t know it. 😀

      16. I wouldn’t doubt it. By the way, my Toby and Pearl ‘s brother Patrick returned to meet his maker a couple of days ago. They were among four kittens presented to the family in an Easter Basket…talk about trickery! They just turned 16. Toby is also failing, he is skinny and seems arthritic. Pearl is a small cat, all black, and not quite as agile as she once was…she used to climb the basement walls patrolling for mice.
