blessing for voters, a Wordle

Bless the blue and the red
those who tirelessly stump for votes
among the hopeful and hopeless
grabbing at sticks and straws
as they burn bridges behind them
and always conceal how they ran the race
the votes they cast—win or lose—
behind the locked curtain.

Grain Barge…Wordle #268

WORDLE #268, MindLoveMisery’sMenagerie prompt for October 4, 2016

Photo “Midwest Grain Barge” is from a public domain search.  Thanks to ©PhotoSeek.com

A pair of sturdy barges, trudging along
behind a hard-working tug boat,
reflecting sunshine from golden grain
filtered through sturdy tarps that protect from the rain.

Once powered by billowing sails,
now fan blades spin like metal fins
powered by mighty engines.
shouldering heavy loads.

To Die in Satin…

This is a Wordle for Special Edition “Touch” MindLoveMisery’sMenagerie, August 29, 2016 Challenge.   https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2016/08/29/wordle-special-addition-touch-august-29th-2016/#respond

This is not my usual fare, but here is the short vignette that I wrote using many, if not all, of the Wordle words given for the challenge.

to die in Satin…

Feverish now, thrashing among sodden sheets
grown bristly and coarse, soaked with salty tears
in a tangible horror of torturous linen…
no smoothing touch of pumice could relieve,
to sharply barbed cloth…once satiny to the touch…

The dying man’s angular body wracked with agony,
viscous sweat turning waxy his once swarthy skin
as rigidity overcame and replaced malleability.
“Oh!  Let me die!” he entreated those who
could do nothing else.

Desperation…Wordle

For Mindlovemisery’sMenagerie, July 9, 2016
WORDLE, Whirligig 7.    [prompt words…candles, grieving, treasure, sun, prodigal, gravel, tavern, find, roar, longing, rush, learn]

Desperation

A roar in my ears
grieving, rushing to nowhere,
no…gentle reason.

Searching for treasure—
but desperate candles in Sun
are all I can find.

Prodigal Daisy
in the Tavern parking lot
…pushing through gravel.

soul’s journey, a Wordle

(A Wordle: prompt Bastet  and Sekhmet’s Library… Challenge … drawing from word pool consisting of six words:
clear, pushed, wonder, deep, soul, wrong)

It is clear my soul
is pushed and pulled
between the wonder
of life’s endless journey
and deep restless sleep–
never afraid I’ll be wrong.
